Education
Education is a vital component of anyone’s life. We should be doing all that’s humanly possible to make
sure our children advance and prosper. It should not matter whether they are leaving high school for the
work force or moving on to higher education, they need to be prepared and possess the necessary skills for
success, no matter the endeavor.
Dreams are important. Goals keep people moving forward, striving for something better. Maine has so
much to offer its young people, but there’s also much to be done. We’ve been getting away from the
fundamentals and forgetting about the everyday importance of what we need day to day. Amazingly,
thousands of Mainers can’t make change for a twenty dollar bill, are incapable of spelling, reading or
writing a letter, and rely too much on computers rather than the brain God has given them.
School systems need to work together to make sure that everyone’s ready for life the moment they leave
high school. Budgets are wanting, but no one can deny the energy and determination of our young students.
Our educational system is a springboard, and it shouldn’t propel its graduates into a black hole. Advancing
and helping those schools that are struggling should be our number one priority.
